Hori Smoku is Sailor Jerry: A Film Screening

Posted by Trisha, Jun 09, 2010

Would you let that guy tattoo you? All unsanitary with his tobacco pipe, pronounced lack of sanitary gloves, and insistent use of a rotary phone?

Yes, you would in a heartbeat. He’s Norman K. Collins, king of tattoo art, and man behind the infamous Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum art. Ed Hardy is remedial compared to this guy. So why don’t you know that much about Mr. Collins? Because he’d not whoring himself out on every jeaned butt out there.

Your chance to learn about the man, the myth, the legend comes June 14 and 15, at the free film screening of Hori Smoku Sailor Jerry, a film about the life and times of American tattoo master Norman K. Collins; at the Laemmle Sunset 5, 6000 West Sunset Blvd, LA. Rsvp here and school thyself in the finer points of the tattoo arts.
