Michael Pukac: A Dreampunk Review – Los Angeles

Now’s about high time you go check out fast-emerging LA artist Michael Pukac. Relevant, timely and timeless, and beautifully executed, Pukac is well-situated in the current steampunk art movement, while distancing his work through content and tone. This Friday the 13th, the Imaginary Light Bulb Factory proudly presents Pukac’s solo show, “A Dreampunk Review”, at Viento y Agua in Long Beach.
Orginally from Alabama, Pukac is already well known in the Los Angeles art scene for his live painting performances, and his imagination resides squarely in a swirling jewel-toned fantasy land of unicorn powered zeppelins, narwhal chases, underwater scuba adventures, DJs spinning on hot air balloon rides, and seahorse turntables. Close your eyes and swim into a exceptionally crafted and executed steampunk Atlantis wonderland.
The opening will also feature whimsical Americana tunes by Alyssandra and the Daymakers, and recycled souls unite with a funky laid back groove by Paper Kites, and naturally, live painting by Pukac. And dress up! Wear your finest Turn of the Century Fantasy garb, and win the costume contest forever. At some point during the night, the multi-talented Pukac will also play banjo. This is not your grandma’s victorian dreamscape art opening!
Opening Reception:Friday, August 13, 2010
6-10pm (free)
The show runs August 13th – September 17th
Viento y Agua, 4007 e. 4th Street Long Beach, California
